Miji Amidu has about 28 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector covering, Capital Markets, Stockbroking Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Asset Management, Credit Analysis and Management, Debt Management, etc.

He started his banking career at Continental Merchant Bank (a subsidiary of Chase Manhattan Bank, New York) in Nigeria in 1988. He later joined FBN (Merchant Bankers) Ltd.,(a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria) in 1992. He later moved to FSB International Bank PLC (Now Fidelity Bank PLC) in 1996 before moving to the Debt Management Office (DMO) Nigeria where he now works as a Director.

In the DMO, Miji has been involved in the Debt Conversion Programme, empanelling of the Primary Dealer Market Maker System in the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Bond Market, Nigeria’s debut outing to the International Capital Market, FGN Debt Securities Issuance, External and Subnational Borrowings, Contingent Liabilities management, management of the DFID Project to the DMO, acquisition of the DMO’s Bond Auction System (BAS) for the FGN Debt Securities market and also serves as a Resource Person for various local and foreign training and attachment programmes.

Miji Amidu has made presentations or attended courses/programmes in various institutions across the globe including, Federal Reserve Bank, Merrill Lynch, US SEC, The World Bank, IMF, Bank of England, UK DMO, Cambridge University, National Bank of Argentina, Argentina DMO, National Bank of Poland, AfDB, Reserve Bank of South Africa, National Treasury, BESA, JSE and FSB all in South Africa, Swedish National Debt Office and has been a Discussant in Programmes by various institutions, etc.

He holds a B.Sc Degree in Accounting and an Executive MBA Degree in Banking and Finance. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria and an Associate of both the Institute Cost Management of Nigeria and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria.
